A resume of our story

In 2005, part of this group got together to build an ecovillage. Together they bought in January 2006, 16 hectares of land in south of minas, at a mountain range called Serra da Mantiqueira. It took six months of intensive work to, with help from special collaborators, to finish the planning. In the first year the convention was elaborated, a legal model and the environmental and architectural project in order to place the ecovillage in the chosen place. The first part of the project started in august 2007, lodges and communitarian restaurant. In 2008 some founders begun to raise their houses. At this moment the challenges are: internal alignment for mutual connivance within the ecovillage, draw a model and plan the annual activities, start permaculture and agricultural forests. Always aiming to find ways of self sustainability.

During the process, few first founders have left and new members were incorporated to the project. With constructions on their way, foreigners naturally started to get interested, and today VIVER SIMPLES have among founders, Canadians, Indians, Romanian, Norwegian and Brazilians.
